Alicia argues a complex museum vandalism case that involves photographs taken by a mother of her son, and considers enlisting the help of investigator Jason Crouse (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Meanwhile, Cary deals with inappropriate conduct towards some younger associates at the firm by partner Harold Lyman (Jerry Adler).

Alicia and Lucca work together on a complicated case involving a designer drug dealer. Meanwhile, Eli persuades Alicia and Veronica (Stockard Channing) to participate in a mother-daughter cooking show to help Peter's campaign, but things don't go as planned.

Alicia and Lucca join forces with Louis Canning to defend a website accused of racial profiling. Meanwhile, Eli and Ruth worry about the nature of Alicia's relationship with Jason and how it could impact Peter's presidential campaign.

A well respected surgeon is accused of plotting to commit a crime; Ruth suggests that Courtney Paige (Vanessa Williams) hire Jason for business in another state, hoping to remove him from Alicia's life.

Alicia argues against Judge Schakowsky when she learns that a former bond court client was wrongfully imprisoned. Also, Diane assists the student editor of a college newspaper when the school threatens to fire her for writing a politically charged article.

Alicia has trouble adjusting when she returns to work at Lockhart, Agos & Lee with Lucca. Their first case, involving a secret new computer tablet, causes a rift within the firm.

Alicia joins a secret panel of attorneys advising the federal government on a controversial case. Also, Eli hires Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) to uncover why the FBI is targeting Peter.

As the grand jury against Peter Florrick is assembled, with U.S. Attorney Connor Fox (Matthew Morrison) leading the proceedings, Alicia, Eli and Peter's lawyer, Mike Tascioni (Will Patton), attempt to discover what charges are being leveled against him. Also, Alicia and Jason attempt to spend a quiet weekend together but are interrupted by her meddling family.

Diane, Cary, and Lucca defend the grieving father of a shooting victim (Blair Underwood) in a defamation suit over a billboard he put up describing a gun store owner as a murderer. Also, a romantic rendezvous between Alicia and Jason is interrupted when Alicia learns that Grace is being accused of plagiarizing her college entrance essay.

Alicia and Diane defend the privacy rights of a therapist whose neighbor, represented by attorney Caitlyn D'Arcy (Anna Camp), flies a drone over his home office. Also, Assistant US Attorney Connor Fox attempts to use Eli's daughter Marissa, as leverage in the case against Peter while the power struggle at Lockhart, Agos and Lee reaches a boiling point.

Alicia and Lucca travel to Toronto to represent NSA agent Jeff Delinger (Zach Woods) who was detained by customs officers while attempting to re-enter the United States. Also, Diane grows concerned when her husband, Kurt McVeigh (Gary Cole), decides to retire and sell his business to Holly Westfall (Megan Hilty), a rival business owner. Peter contemplates an uncertain future when faced with a possible arrest.

Alicia’s night goes from bad to worse when she throws a party to celebrate Howard and Jackie’s upcoming wedding. Also, Eli asks Jason to investigate Peter in preparation for his trial.

As Peter's trial begins, Alicia works desperately to keep her husband from returning to jail. Also, Diane and Lucca move aggressively to expand the law firm, but face serious opposition from David Lee.

Peter has little time left to make a plea deal before the jury comes back with a verdict. Meanwhile, Alicia must decide whether her future is with Peter or with Jason, and she channels the ghost of Will Gardner to help make a decision.

When Colin Sweeney accuses a television producer of basing an unflattering character and show on his life, Diane and Cary must prove that they are capable of handling his case as Alicia focuses on the race for State’s Attorney. Also, Alicia competes against Frank Prady for a major campaign donation.

Alicia prepares for a key interview which could impact the outcome of the race for State’s Attorney. Also, Louis Canning pressures Florrick/Agos/Lockhart to agree on a settlement in his wrongful eviction case against the firm.

When potential voter fraud is discovered in the State’s Attorney election, Eli and Alicia take steps to stop a recount by enlisting the help of a well-respected civil rights lawyer, Spencer Randolph. Also, Diane learns she unwittingly submitted false evidence in Cary’s case.

Alicia faces an uncertain future when she is forced to resign as State’s Attorney in the wake of a voter fraud scandal. Also, R.D. hires Diane and Cary to argue against two ultra-conservative lawyers for a test case involving mandatory minimum sentencing.

Alicia tries to hold a website accountable when its users accuse her client, a college professor, of being linked to domestic terrorism. Meanwhile, Will goes against Diane’s wishes when he hires Damian Boyle, an unpredictable attorney with ties to organized crime, who immediately interjects himself into Alicia’s website case. Also, Eli and Jackie clash over a Florrick family secret.

Alicia is shocked to learn that a former client bequeathed her millions, but Lockhart/Gardner quickly contests the will on behalf of the deceased’s wife. Meanwhile, Diane asks Kalinda to look into Damian’s background. Also, Eli and Marilyn are concerned about Peter being seen with Alicia’s more disreputable clients at the Florrick/Agos holiday party.

Alicia represents a band suing a TV show for copyright infringement, but the simple case becomes psychological warfare when Will joins the opposing council and uses his knowledge of Alicia’s strengths and weaknesses against her.

Meanwhile, the investigation into voter fraud in the gubernatorial election continues to move forward when Marilyn is approached by an agent in the Office of Public Integrity.

When Alicia is asked to be the keynote speaker at the American Bar Association conference in New York City, she looks to her past for inspiration. Meanwhile, the competition with Diane and Will continues as Alicia and Cary battle to align with a powerful New York lawyer. Also, Will turns to an old acquaintance when it becomes clear that Nelson Dubeck's investigation into possible voter fraud isn't going away.

Alicia asks Cary to be her lawyer when Nelson Dubeck asks her to participate in a deposition; Will faces off with a new prosecutor while defending Jeffrey Grant.

Also, Eli learns the truth about Alicia and Peter's relationship.
