María, 18 years old, decides to leave her town and try her luck in the city, where she gets a job as a domestic worker.

Gustavo discovers that Juan Carlos has lost two years at the university and gives him an ultimatum. María, taken by her employer, goes to the doctor and he tells her that she is pregnant. María tells Juan Carlos the news.

Juan Carlos refuses to show his face for the child he is expecting with María and she is disappointed by his cowardice. María's future looks cloudy, as the boss of the house tells his wife to fire her.

Juan Carlos looks for María and she refuses to talk to him, assures that she will be able to get by without anything from him. Víctor looks for a maternity hospital for María. Rita is fired for being on the lookout for María.

María throws herself into happiness after the birth of José Ignacio, she swears that she will lack nothing. Maria’s new employers are tight-lipped and she doesn’t like baby squeals. María decides to take dressmaking classes to get ahead.

Matilde and Víctor offer María a room with them and the possibility of doing dressmaking. María's employers humiliate her one last time, after notifying her that she will stop working with them. Natalia falls in love with Juan Carlos.

María is satisfied with her first home. Juan Carlos continues to have remorse for abandoning his beloved and he sets out to find her. María sees in Matilde a mother. Almira does not miss an opportunity to be insidious.

María organizes a dinner with important men, Víctor arrives without knowing about the meeting and feels offended by the abrupt invitation to stay for lunch. Benito and Julia begin to get closer.

Víctor decides to get to know Carmen better in order to forget María. Lorena refuses to give Alberto a divorce and makes him confess to his daughter about his lover.

Doctor Valadez informs Silvia that she will have to stop working at the hospital due to her relationship with Alberto. María asks Víctor not to leave and to continue working at the company, but he refuses.

María cannot get Víctor to stay in the company and reproaches him for going with Carmen, later she goes to console herself in the doctor’s arms. Laura complains to her father for having stopped loving her mother.

After Víctor's resignation, Román is chosen as the new administrator. Carmen, with the help of Víctor, thinks about setting up her sewing workshop with clients and seamstresses of María. Lorena returns home after a comment from Ivonne.

Lorena takes Mauricio to her house, creating a scandal especially with Alberto. Don Nacho’s health becomes precarious, so María and Nachito go to town. Arturo is determined and clinging to the idea that Maria should marry him.

Don Nacho scares the family, especially María. María finds out what has happened with the family and is surprised by the attitude of one of her brothers. Pedro, with the help of Ivonne, tries to rape Laura.

Fernando takes a plane to meet with María and put himself at her service. Ivonne puts tares in María with Cruz. Gabriel and Alberto talk about Lorena’s radical change, including her lover. Arturo begins to see Fernando as a traitor.

María calms down the fight between Fernando and Arturo. Don Nacho questions María about her feelings towards her suitors. Gustavo forcibly takes Lorena out of a restaurant, after seeing her making out with Mauricio.

Víctor, after visiting Don Nacho, treats María with disdain. Lorena breaks into the hospital and creates an upset in Don Nacho, after making a scandal, and he faints. An aneurysm is detected in Don Nacho.

Fernando puts his efforts into Don Nacho’s operation, but does not regain consciousness. Lorena does not show any remorse after her actions. Don Nacho reacts only to say goodbye to his loved ones, his wife calls him.

Don Nacho's death serves to unite María and Víctor, apparently it is time to forgive and forget. Florencia visits Lorena to tell her what happened. María thinks about having Víctor return to his old position, but he dismisses it.

Víctor refuses to be an employee of María, he seeks to improve himself for love and win the admiration, once again, of his beloved. Pedro, in the company of his guards, beat José Ignacio. Arturo proposes to María.

Iris tries to commit suicide out of love for Víctor. Arturo questions Fernando's good intentions. Ivonne questions José Ignacio about his feelings towards Laura. Carmen discovers María and Víctor kissing.

Víctor and Arturo come to blows and María banishes him from her life forever. Julia abandons Pablo and seeks forgiveness from her family, but Víctor treats her harshly. Ivonne complains to José Ignacio for his lack of love and attention.

Ignacio and Laura are finally together. María tells Laura's family that they have found her, except her mother. Diego confesses his love for Laura to Ignacio and confronts him.

Rafael confesses to María his liking for her. Ignacio and Laura's wedding takes place. Germán manages to get Iris's father to accept their relationship.

María asks Víctor to undo his partnership with Carmen in order to resume their relationship. Estela and Federico confess their commitment to María. Víctor undoes his partnership with Carmen and resumes teaching.

Víctor has changed, María is happy and they plan to resume their relationship. Perlita is still suspicious about Marcos' trips. Marcos' son is baptized. Benito and Julia start a relationship.

There is a risk that Laura will lose her baby so she has to be admitted to the hospital, but Lorena finds out and looks for her causing a scandal.

Ignacio is seriously injured and has lost a lot of blood, his blood type is very rare and no one has been able to donate. Juan Carlos arrives from the United States and offers to donate blood for his son.

The operation and the blood donation for Ignacio have been a success. Gustavo visits Lorena in the hospital and, faced with her madness, he confesses that she is not his biological daughter.

María makes the decision to make the trip with José Ignacio, provoking the anger of Víctor who decides to end their relationship. Víctor spends the afternoon with Gabriela. Zulema asks Víctor to tell her about María.

María is upset because José Ignacio arrives drunk at her house in the company of Víctor and Zulema. Gabriela visits María and tells her that she is getting married soon.

Lorena escapes from the hospital and arrives in town pretending to be a teacher. Federico meets her and tells her his name is Pilar Dávila.

José Ignacio finds out that Lorena del Villar escaped and decides to look for her and kill her. Benito asks Julia to start a family but she refuses.

José Ignacio tells his mother that he is ready to face Lorena. Víctor asks the doctor who treats Marcos and finds out that María pays the medical expenses. Lorena plans her revenge. María talks with José Ignacio.

José Ignacio tells his mother that he returned the gun so as not to worry her any more. Lorena listens to Anita arguing with Diego. Rita cries with happiness when she sees María's wedding dress. Finally, María and Víctor get married.

María and Víctor finally unite their lives. Lorena manages to steal little María to carry out her revenge. Anita doesn't understand why little Maria got sick.

José Ignacio arrives in La Esperanza ready to take his daughter with him. Diego claims him and prevents him from doing so, facing blows. Lorena manages to escape after being injured by José Ignacio.

Ana and Diego ask Doña Raquel for help to give them asylum and protect Ignacio's daughter. Ignacio and Diego fight with blows again. Detective Zepeda is about to find little María, but when Diego and Ana find out, they flee to the city.

A clue, gives false hope of having found little Maria. Ignacio changes his attitude again and seems not to care about his daughter's whereabouts, he returns to the city and decides to leave home. Lorena begins to react.

María is saddened to learn that her son has left home, at the same time, she investigates with Doña Raquel the whereabouts of her granddaughter and siblings. Ignacio returns to work at the office.

Lorena has recovered her memory and plans to continue with her revenge, but her caretakers want to enslave her. Ivonne approaches Ignacio again.

María discovers Ignacio at a party in her new apartment and gets upset with him.

Ignacio gets upset with María for defending her siblings and paying Ana's bail. Paulina visits Ignacio, but Ivonne arrives and causes a scandal.

María is very depressed because of the confrontation she had with Ignacio for defending her sister.

Abel visits María's house to find out if the story Diego told him is true. Ivonne comes to live with Ignacio, but he rejects her and goes back to live with her mother.

Don Abel manages to convince Diego to return the little girl and together they take her to María. María's joy is transformed when Diego is taken into custody. Faced with his depression, Diego pleads guilty and refuses to have a defense.

Ignacio declares in favor of Diego. Maria visits Abel and thanks him for his help. Juan Carlos is run over and his life is at risk.

Despite being dangerous for his health, Gustavo travels to Miami to see his son. Víctor continues to deny María a trip to see Juan Carlos. Ignacio and María travel to see Juan Carlos.

After talking with Ignacio, María convinces Ignacio who goes in to see his father and forgives him. Víctor falls into Zulema's trap and makes her believe that they spent the night together.

Rita realizes that Víctor spent the night with Zulema and goes to her house to verify it. Ignacio accepts his father and his family. Despite medical efforts, Juan Carlos dies.

María and Ignacio are back and tell everyone about the death of Juan Carlos. Luis takes Nazaria home to meet his parents. Víctor confesses to María what happened with Zulema, she without hesitation and hurt runs him out of her house.

Zulema is beaten by Víctor's mother and by María when she goes to look for them. María decides to run to Zulema before her insults and her betrayal. With the support of one of her kidnappers, Lorena manages to escape.

Víctor refuses to give María a divorce. Lorena asks lawyer Hidalgo for support for her divorce. Víctor roundly despises Zulema.

Arturo finds Lorena and before her supposed misfortune he decides to protect her. The count partners with Maria and will help her stay for a while in Paris.

María gets annoyed with Víctor's serenade, talks to him, but decides not to forgive him. Lorena and Arturo plan to take revenge on María and her family, he helps her have a makeover.

Víctor demands that the count undo the contract, but the count apart from denying it, confirms his interest in his wife. Lorena looks for Silvia and fulfills her revenge.

Víctor and María talk before the date that Román and Ignacio planned without being able to solve their problems. Due to Lorena's attack, Silvia loses her baby.

Lorena shows up at her father's house and threatens him with death. After her divorce, Maria decides to go to Paris to start a new life with her son.

María talks to the doctor and confirms that she is expecting a child. Arturo tells Lorena that they will travel to Paris. Silvia finds out that Lorena was the one who hurt Don Gustavo.

María breaks the news to José Ignacio that she will be a mother again. María asks José Ignacio not to tell Víctor anything about the baby. Arturo and Lorena plan their revenge against María.

María confesses to Rodrigo that she is expecting a child from Víctor Carreño. María tells José Ignacio that Marcos is dying due to the leukemia he suffers from. Rodrigo invites María to dinner to toast the success of the exhibition.

Rodrigo de Peñalvert asks María to marry him so that the son he is expecting will grow up as his own. María tells José Ignacio that Víctor shouldn't find out about her condition. Rodrigo asks María about Víctor Carreño.

Rodrigo proposes to María to give his son a last name. Zulema looks for Víctor to ask for his forgiveness. Marcos loses the battle and dies in Victor's arms. María and Rodrigo go to the fashion house and get an unpleasant surprise.

María realizes that the designs from her exhibition have disappeared. Arturo and Lorena carry out the theft of María's designs to destroy her. Rodrigo asks María to trust him. The exhibition of Maria's designs is a success.

Lorena and Angelo decide to retire due to the resounding success of María López. Rita calls the doctor to visit Víctor. Rodrigo tells Isabela that he is sure that José Ignacio loves her.

María is distressed to learn that Rita wants to adopt Lourdes. Rodrigo wants to help José Ignacio, who will soon marry Isabela, but Constanza does not see well these actions. María feels harassed by her presumed sister and escapes.

After her reunion with José Ignacio, who recognizes her as a mother, María is taken with her loved ones; she tells the stories she's been led to believe and doesn't remember anything from the past. Gustavo shows improvements in his health.

María discovers who her presumed husband and sister are. Constanza tries to humiliate María and she gets out of character. Yvonne hopes that she will be released from jail. Lorena looks for María and the nuns notify her, she is alarmed.

Lorena looks for Luli in the convent, but her mother tells her that she has already been adopted. Constanza opposes the relationship between José Ignacio and Isabela, she even slaps Isabela.

Lorena calls María and forces her to do what she asks if she wants Luli back. José Ignacio is jealous of some flowers that were sent to Isabela. Lorena, totally mad and full of hate, confesses to María that her daughter is still alive.

María goes to the hospital, after the confrontation with Lorena, and is questioned by the police. Chucho reveals to María that he saw Luli in a room near where she lives.

María goes in search of Luli and confronts the girl who is taking care of her, she also asks for Lorena's whereabouts. Federico tells Clemente that Estela is pregnant.

Rafael and Fernando fight over the courtship of María, but she sets limits on them. Víctor thinks that María's love for him has faded. Rodrigo confesses his love to María. A medal can help Maria find her baby.

Rita demands that María stay away from Luli, José Ignacio thinks the same. Román demands that Rita apologize to María. Lorena becomes an informant to find out Maria's steps. Chucho finds Luli's medal.

With all the pain in her heart, Rita returns María to Luli, she is willing to go with Román, but María prevents it. Estela creates a drama for Margarita, after she saw her with Clemente. María does not want to marry Víctor.
