Synopsis

My Hero is a BBC sitcom created by Paul Mendelson. The programme ran for six series, first broadcast in February 2000, and concluding in September 2006. The series follows the antics of the dim-witted superhero "Thermoman", portrayed by Ardal O'Hanlon in series one to five and by James Dreyfus in the final series. The series was regularly directed by John Stroud. In the UK, the digital channel Gold regularly re-runs the programme, although the last series has yet to appear on the channel. In the United States it was shown on PBS and, briefly, BBC America. In Australia, UKTV offered re-runs of the first three series, while BBC Entertainment provided repeats for Scandinavia.

The sixth and final series of British television comedy My Hero ran from July 21, 2006 to September 10, 2006. This series featured eight episodes, and saw the majority of the main cast reprise their characters from Series five, with the exception of George Sunday, who decided to leave the series after episode one. He was replaced by actor James Dreyfus, who took the character of George Sunday into the new alias, George Monday. The series was once again broadcast on BBC1, and was overseen by series creator Paul Mendelson. Due to poor ratings for the series, and the poor public reception to Dreyfus, the series was axed, leading to the final two episodes being broadcast on Sunday lunchtimes, rather than the prime-time slot on Friday evenings. The series has never been released on DVD.

    Desperate for money after the health shop is closed, George takes part in a poker game on Ultron, but ends up losing all his body parts, aside from his foot and his soul. When he is placed into a new body, Janet has problems coping with the change.

    Janet and the children are having trouble adjusting to George's new body, and things just get worse when George learns he had a secret love child. Meanwhile, Janet plans a meeting with an old boyfriend.

    Desperate for Janet's affections, George asks Ella's cat what makes him so endearing. He discovers it's the cat's essence, so he starts extracting it and spraying himself with it.

    In effort to lighten his workload, George makes a sidekick out of one of his ribs, a beautiful woman called Lula. But she turns out too well, replacing everyone at the health centre, and she even takes George's job as protector of Earth.

    When Ollie's pet spider dies, Thermoman resurrects it, then kills it because it frightens him. Wanting to teach Cassie about Ultronian religion, George tries to organise it on Earth. He winds up resurrecting Piers from a fatal overdose of Mrs Raven's human testing pills, which leads people to believe he is "The Chosen One.

    When Thermoman attempts to fly faster than the speed of light, he is caught and has to resit his superhero theory test or he will lose his license and be sent back to Ultron. Meanwhile, George's attempts to be attractive to Janet have interesting results, both at the gym and when he tries to reverse the effects.

    When the Superhero Assessment of Total Saves League table results are announced, George is so horrified by his standing, and the effect it will have on Janet's affections toward him, that he resolves to take action.

    When George buys a car and ups the offered price and then takes reponsibility for an accident that was obviously Piers' fault, Janet trys assertiveness training, which promptly fails. Piers is frustrated by his lack of success with women and, when Mrs. Raven tricks him into thinking that a patient is his next date, he starts up a men's group to combat women. George is highly impressed by this, and trys it out on Janet, who is having none of it until George controls her mind and she becomes the perfect wife. He quickly does it to Ella and the other women. Piers then finds a girl who doesn't slap him and changes his mind about women. George then puts everyone back to normal. Meanwhile, Casey gets a job as directory enquiries and the speaking clock to save up for a doll's house.

    Janet's mother Ella becomes a trainee JP. When visiting Janet and George she comments on the fact that Ollie hasn't spoken a single word yet. He responds by talking a language that sounds like baby talk (George has been teaching Ollie the language of Jupiter). With Ella's thoughts in mind, George goes out to get some educational stuff for the kids, he ends up getting porn for them and giving Ollie a cigar and alcohol. Ella takes Ollie and Cassie away from Janet and George but without them Cassie reverts to being a normal human.

    Thermoman liberates the stolen Mona Lisa from an art thief's clutches, but comes under suspicion from Scotland Yard when he cannot explain its presence in his flat.

    As an attempt to get Ollie to eat his vegetables, George gets Ultroneon GM vegetables, with unfortunate side-effects. He then makes the minke whale extinct by using it to plug a volcano! Piers decides that Thermoman has gone too far, and makes a campaign against Thermoman abusing nature, thus getting him a TV show. George's attempts to be environmentally friendly backfire until he gets so angry that he has a temper tantrum and moves the Earth away from the sun... Meanwhile, Mrs. Raven tries to get the Triplets into a Christian School...and has to rely on Ella, who has recently eaten the Ultronean GM fruit!

    George has some initial trouble getting to grips with the notion of sport when he is asked to join a cricket team, to help Piers out. Mrs. Raven gets intimate with Tyler after becoming convinced that he is her hero Thermoman. Ella belittles Thermoman - when he fixes her house after an incident and other people's houses as well - as not doing a perfect job. But Thermoman gets his revenge.

    George gets himself a new life insurance policy and then kills himself to claim the cash. Now he has to figure out how to come back from the dead with Janet's help, or at least, Janet has to help him sort out another mess - yet again! This is easier said than done, as Janet has to fend off colleagues and family trying to get her married off again and with things like Tyler on the loose and George spread out in a coffin in the room, things are not going to be easy to solve, until a plan is hatched for the funeral.

    Its spend, spend, spend, as George finds out about credit cards. Janet to the rescue, as she uses baby Ollie's powers to predict future lottery numbers to pay for George's spending habit,

    George is standing for mayor - his policy - to fix Stan and Ella's broken street light. His opponent is Piers. Piers sticks it to George by treating him as a joke in the hope that George can't possibly win. Janet is so incensed by George's attitude of becoming mayor, with him secretly being Thermoman; she leaves home taking Ollie with him. Piers hatches a plan to disgrace George, now that Janet is out of the way, but the broken street light has a way of interfering when Stanley comes to get some much needed sleep and Pier's setup deos not go according to plan.

However, things don't go to plan when he is trying to stop Janet from breaking her arm, and he turns her bald. Turns out, she had cronic scalp problems, so when she broke her arm, the doctors fixed her hair. Then, George goes back again and fixes the problem. However, when trying to sort it out fully and properly, he messes things up, saving her from breaking her arm and leaving a note for her to go to a doctor about her scalp. However, she and the doctor fall in love, and in 2003, she is married with Piers and they have 10 children! No one knows who Arnie or George are, Mrs Raven is nice, and Tyler actually has a girlfriend! So, in the end, it turns out Piers
