Theatrical windows have stopped being a fixed length and started being a negotiation. A billion-dollar summer release will hold cinemas for months; a January horror film that underperformed can be on a subscription service inside eight weeks. Which is why, in mid-August 2026, you can watch a $150 million Saudi epic and a Michael Sarnoski misfire at home while the year's two biggest films are still only in cinemas.

This is the list of 2026 Hollywood releases that have actually landed on an India subscription service — not rental, not 'coming soon', but included with a plan you may already pay for. Ten films, spread across JioHotstar, Prime Video and Netflix, and the mix is instructive: the two genuine hits here reached streaming fast because their studios have their own services to fill, while most of the rest arrived early because they had nothing left to earn in cinemas.

What is not here matters too. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Odyssey, Toy Story 5 and Michael — four of the five biggest films of the year — are all still theatrical, with no announced digital date. On the pattern of the last two years, expect the July releases around November and December.

  1. 1/10The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

    The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

    Film · 2026 · English · Apr 1, 2026

    JioHotstar
    Worldwide gross$1,012,536,716

The biggest film of 2026 available on an Indian subscription service, at $1.01 billion worldwide — Illumination and Nintendo's second Mario picture, and the only property in the medium with two billion-dollar video game adaptations. On JioHotstar. If you are picking one thing off this list, it is this one.

  2. 2/10Project Hail Mary

    Project Hail Mary

    Film · 2026 · English · Mar 15, 2026

    Prime Video
    Worldwide gross$684,041,145

The year's first genuine hit and the best film on this list. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller adapting Andy Weir, with Ryan Gosling as a reluctant schoolteacher sent to save the solar system — $684 million worldwide on a near-even domestic and international split, which almost no original science fiction manages. On Prime Video in India.

  3. 3/10Hoppers

    Hoppers

    Film · 2026 · English · Mar 4, 2026

    JioHotstar
    Worldwide gross$389,685,783

Pixar's March original, $390 million worldwide, and on JioHotstar in India faster than any other theatrical animation this year. It is the film Toy Story 5 spent the summer being compared favourably against, which is unfair to it — a $390 million original is a good result by any standard other than the one Pixar is held to.

  4. 4/10Wuthering Heights

    Wuthering Heights

    Film · 2026 · English · Feb 11, 2026

    JioHotstar6.7
    Worldwide gross$241,701,072

Emerald Fennell's Brontë adaptation, $241.7 million worldwide, and the most divisive wide release of the year — a film people either defended at length or refused to finish. It is on JioHotstar in India, which makes it the easiest way to work out which of those two camps you are in.

  5. 5/10Masters of the Universe

    Masters of the Universe

    Film · 2026 · English · Jun 3, 2026

    Prime Video7.3
    Worldwide gross$113.77M
    Budget$170M

A $170 million He-Man reboot that took $113.8 million and dropped 71 per cent in its second weekend — one of the year's largest losses, and on Prime Video in India within weeks of leaving cinemas. A sequel was greenlit anyway. Watch it to see what a $170 million film looks like when nobody involved could name the audience.

  6. 6/10Crime 101

    Crime 101

    Film · 2026 · English · Feb 11, 2026

    Prime Video6.9
    Worldwide gross$73M
    Budget$90M

The Don Winslow adaptation, on a reported $90 million against $73 million worldwide — not a catastrophe, not a success, and now on Prime Video in India. Crime films of this scale used to be a studio staple and are now an endangered category, which makes its middling result more interesting than its numbers suggest.

  7. 7/1028 Years Later: The Bone Temple

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

    Film · 2026 · English · Jan 14, 2026

    Netflix7.1
    Worldwide gross$58M
    Budget$63M

The second part of the revived Danny Boyle and Alex Garland trilogy, out in January on a reported $63 million against $58 million — an underperformance rather than a disaster, and on Netflix in India now. The first film of the new run did considerably better, which makes this the rare middle chapter that dropped rather than built.

  8. 8/10Mercy

    Mercy

    Film · 2026 · English · Jan 19, 2026

    Prime Video7.0
    Worldwide gross$55M
    Budget$60M

A $60 million January thriller that took $55 million, which for a mid-budget genre film released in the year's deadest month is close to par. On Prime Video in India. It is the sort of release that used to define a studio's non-tentpole slate and now mostly exists to give a streaming service something to lead with.

  9. 9/10Return to Silent Hill

    Return to Silent Hill

    Film · 2026 · English · Jan 21, 2026

    JioHotstar
    Worldwide gross$48M
    Budget$23M

The video game adaptation that actually turned a profit — a reported $23 million budget against $48 million worldwide, which by the standards of this list is a triumph. On JioHotstar in India, and the strongest argument here for the small-budget horror model that Backrooms took to $394 million four months later.

  10. 10/10The Bride!

    The Bride!

    Film · 2026 · English · Mar 4, 2026

    JioHotstar
    Worldwide gross$13M
    Budget$90M

Maggie Gyllenhaal's Bride of Frankenstein, with Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley, on a reported $90 million and one of the year's biggest theatrical losses. It is on JioHotstar in India, which is where films like this now find whatever audience they were always going to have — and prestige swings that die in cinemas are re-evaluated more often than they are forgotten.

Frequently asked

Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day streaming in India yet?
No. It is still in theatrical release and Sony has not announced a digital or streaming date. Previous Sony Spider-Man films have reached Indian streaming on JioHotstar and SonyLIV, typically four to six months after release.
Where can I watch The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in India?
JioHotstar. It is the highest-grossing 2026 film currently on an Indian subscription service — $1.01 billion worldwide — and the fastest big release of the year to reach streaming here.
When will The Odyssey stream in India?
No date has been announced. Universal has kept it in cinemas since 17 July on the strength of its IMAX run, and Christopher Nolan's films have historically had among the longest theatrical windows in the business. Expect months rather than weeks.
Why are some of the year's flops streaming already?
Because a film with nothing left to earn theatrically is worth more to a studio as a subscription draw than as a cinema booking. Masters of the Universe, Desert Warrior and The Bride! all reached Indian streaming quickly for exactly that reason.
