Yash's Toxic, Mirzapur on the big screen, Awarapan 2, Batwara 1947 and Meghna Gulzar's Daayra. The confirmed dates for the rest of 2026, and what each one's streaming route is likely to look like.
The back half of 2026 is dense in a way the first half was not. August alone carries sixteen theatrical releases across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hollywood, and three of them are films that have been moving around the calendar for more than two years. September brings the Mirzapur film and Meghna Gulzar's Daayra within a fortnight of each other.
This list is ordered by anticipation rather than date — by how much of the audience is already waiting, judged on franchise history, the theatrical performance of the people involved, and how long the film has been promised. Dates are the ones currently confirmed and are quoted from Wikipedia's 2026 release tracker and News9's August calendar; Indian release dates move, and several films here have moved repeatedly.
On streaming: none of these have announced an OTT date, and we will not invent one. What we can say with confidence is the route each is likely to take, based on who produced it and where that producer's recent films have landed. Where a franchise's previous entries stream in India today is a better predictor than any rumour, and those platform tags are on the cards below.

Releases 26 August 2026 Yash's first film since KGF: Chapter 2, directed by Geetu Mohandas, with a cast that runs Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi. It has been rescheduled four times — from April 2025 through March and June 2026 — before settling on an extended holiday window in late August, and it is the single most anticipated Indian release of the year on the strength of the KGF audience alone. Its result will shape how every other Indian platform thinks about theatrical extensions of its own shows.

Releases 28 August 2026 Anupam Kher, Ranvir Shorey and Parvin Dabas return to Dibakar Banerjee's 2006 comedy, twenty years on. Trade reporting suggests this one is the likeliest of the August slate to move off its date, so treat 28 August as provisional.
The clash worth watching is 14 August, which currently holds Batwara 1947, Awarapan 2 and Vishwanath & Sons. Indian distributors usually resolve a pile-up of that size in the fortnight before release, so at least one of those dates is likely to change.
For streaming, the pattern to expect is the one 2026 has already established: a theatrical window of roughly eight weeks for the big titles, shortening to four or less for anything that underperforms. Dhurandhar: The Revenge reached JioHotstar in June and drew five times its theatrical opening-weekend audience in three days, which is the outcome every producer on this list is now planning for rather than resisting.
