Most Watched Indian TV and Reality Shows on Streaming — January to June 2026
India's Got Latent season two drew 38.5 million viewers. Naagin, Taarak Mehta and Anupamaa still pull eight figures each on OTT. Ormax's H1 2026 numbers for the shows that never make the prestige lists.

Indian streaming coverage is written almost entirely about originals, and Indian streaming is watched substantially otherwise. Ormax Media's StreamView data for the first half of 2026 has three daily television serials clearing eight million viewers apiece on OTT — Naagin, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Anupamaa — which puts each of them within range of the year's better-reviewed prestige web series, and ahead of most of them.
The reality chart is more lopsided still. India's Got Latent season two reached 38.5 million viewers, making it not just the biggest reality property of the half-year but the biggest piece of entertainment of any kind on Indian streaming, ahead of every film and every series. The next reality title, Laughter Chefs season three, reached 14.1 million — a gap of more than two and a half times between first and second.
These are the shows carrying the daily habit on Indian OTT: the ones people put on at a fixed time rather than plan an evening around. They are also, for the platforms, the reason a subscription renews in a month when nothing prestigious launched.
1/6India's Got Latent (Season 2)

Series · 2024 · Hindi · Jun 14, 2024
Netflix8.7Viewers, Jan-Jun 2026 38.5 million The most-watched entertainment title of any kind on Indian streaming in the first half of 2026 — ahead of every film, every web series and every other format. Its second season kept the unpolished panel-comedy shape that made the YouTube original work, and the numbers suggest the audience came for exactly that rather than in spite of it. Nothing else in this data is within a factor of two.
2/6Laughter Chefs (Season 3)

Series · 2024 · Hindi · Jun 1, 2024
JioHotstar3.8Viewers, Jan-Jun 2026 14.1 million The celebrity cooking-comedy format in its third season, and the most durable non-scripted franchise on Indian television right now. It works on streaming for the same reason it works on air — short, self-contained episodes with a familiar cast, which is close to the ideal shape for the second-screen viewing that dominates weekday evenings.
3/6The 50

Series · 2026 · Hindi · Feb 1, 2026
Viewers, Jan-Jun 2026 13.3 million The competition format's showing here is the notable one, because unlike the two above it, it does not have a decade of television history behind it. Third place among reality titles in a half-year in which the top spot took 38.5 million is a strong result for a comparatively young property.
4/6Naagin (Season 7)

Series · 2015 · Hindi · Oct 25, 2015
JioHotstarZee53.1Viewers, Jan-Jun 2026 11.9 million The most-watched Hindi television fiction title on streaming in the half-year, in its seventh season. Ekta Kapoor's supernatural franchise has now outlasted most of the streaming services it plays on, and it draws a larger OTT audience than the substantial majority of Indian web originals commissioned in the same window.
5/6Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

Series · 2008 · Hindi · Jul 28, 2008
SonyLIVMX Player6.1Viewers, Jan-Jun 2026 10.6 million Seventeen years in and still clearing ten million viewers on streaming alone in six months. Its back catalogue is the real asset — an episode count in the four thousands means the show functions less like a series on OTT and more like a channel, which is a genuinely difficult thing for any original to compete with.
6/6Anupamaa

Series · 2020 · Hindi · Jul 13, 2020
JioHotstar4.7Viewers, Jan-Jun 2026 8.8 million The defining Hindi daily serial of the decade, and third among television fiction titles on streaming for the half-year. Rupali Ganguly's show has held its OTT audience through several years of cast and narrative churn, which is the pattern that separates a durable daily from a hit one.
The comparison these numbers invite is with the web originals chart from the same six months, where the most-watched Indian series — Made in India: A Titan Story — reached 17.8 million. Only one show on this page beat that, but four of the six landed in the same range as originals that cost many times more per hour to make.
That is the commercial case for the daily serial on streaming, and it is why every major Indian platform now carries them despite none of them commissioning the genre. The audience arrives without marketing, every day, for years.
Frequently asked
- What was the most-watched reality show on Indian OTT in the first half of 2026?
- India's Got Latent season two, with 38.5 million viewers in India according to Ormax Media's StreamView data for January to June 2026. It was also the most-watched entertainment title of any kind in that period, ahead of every film and web series.
- Do Indian TV serials really get watched on streaming?
- Substantially, yes. Naagin season seven drew 11.9 million viewers, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah 10.6 million and Anupamaa 8.8 million on OTT in the first half of 2026 — figures comparable to, and in several cases ahead of, the year's higher-profile web originals.
- Why do long-running serials rank so well?
- Partly genuine popularity and partly the counting method. Ormax counts a unique viewer once per title over the whole period, so a serial airing daily for six months has far more opportunities to pick up a first-time viewer than an eight-episode series released in one drop. Both things are true at once.
- Where does OTTweek get these numbers?
- From Ormax Media's StreamView panel, as reported by Social Samosa and The Hollywood Reporter India in July 2026. OTTweek does not measure or estimate viewership — Indian platforms do not publish per-title figures, and every number here is quoted from a named source and linked to it.
