Every Film That Won at the 2026 Oscars — and Where to Stream It in India

Paul Thomas Anderson's eleventh film is the first to win him anything, and it won him two: Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, on top of Best Picture. Sean Penn took Supporting Actor. The six awards came from 13 nominations, the best conversion rate of any film in the top four, and it also won the first Best Casting Oscar ever awarded — a category the Academy introduced at this ceremony. It streams on JioHotstar in India, which is where Warner Bros. titles have landed since the Jio-Disney merger.

Sixteen nominations is the most any film has ever received, ahead of the 14 shared by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land, and it is a remarkable number for a period vampire film set in 1930s Mississippi. Four of them landed: Michael B. Jordan for Best Actor, becoming only the second performer to win for a dual role; Ryan Coogler for Original Screenplay; Ludwig Goransson for Original Score; and Autumn Durald Arkapaw for Cinematography, the first woman and the first Black winner in the category's history. Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein swept the three craft categories that a del Toro film is built to win — production design, costume and makeup — from nine nominations. It is also the most straightforwardly available winner of the night for an Indian viewer: Netflix financed it, Netflix released it, and it has been on Netflix India since November.

Two nominations, two wins — the only film on the night to convert everything it was up for. Best Animated Feature went to it over the year's studio sequels, and Golden took Best Original Song after spending most of 2025 as an actual pop hit rather than an awards-season one. Netflix has it in India, and it is the rare winner here that a family can put on without preamble.

Joachim Trier's Norwegian family drama, with Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgard, drew nine nominations — extraordinary for a non-English film — and won the category it was always going to win. Nine nominations for one award is the harshest arithmetic of the ceremony. In India it is a MUBI title, which makes it the hardest of the ten to reach: MUBI is a subscription of its own rather than something bundled with a phone plan.

Chloe Zhao's adaptation of Maggie O'Farrell's novel about the death of Shakespeare's son went eight nominations deep and came away with one, though it was the one that mattered most to it: Jessie Buckley for Best Actress. In India it sits on Lionsgate Play, and the listings show it as an add-on channel through Prime Video or Apple TV rather than as a standalone app title — worth knowing, because a Lionsgate Play channel is easy to forget you are paying for.

Apple's Brad Pitt racing film was the studio's first genuine theatrical hit and it won Best Sound, which is the correct award for it — the engines are the whole argument. Four nominations, one win. It streams on Apple TV in India, and it is the only winner of the night on that service.

The third Avatar film won Best Visual Effects, as the first two did, and was nominated for nothing else of consequence. That is now the settled pattern for the series: enormous commercial success, one technical Oscar, no serious play for the top categories. It finished 2025 as the year's third-biggest film worldwide and is on JioHotstar in India.

Zach Cregger's horror film converted its single nomination, with Amy Madigan winning Supporting Actress for a performance that had been a talking point since the previous August. A horror film winning an acting Oscar remains rare enough to note. On JioHotstar in India.

The Best Documentary Feature winner, assembled from footage a Russian school videographer shot inside his own classrooms as the war reshaped what children were taught. It is the one film on this list with no Indian streaming home of any kind — not a subscription service, not a rental — which is the ordinary fate of documentary winners here and the reason this category rarely gets discussed in India.
