Hindi originals get most of the attention on Indian streaming, but some of the best-made series of the last few years are in other languages. Hoichoi built an entire service on Bengali originals. Prime Video's Tamil thrillers, led by Pushkar and Gayathri's Suzhal, have returned for season after season. JioHotstar, Zee5 and SonyLIV have since commissioned Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil shows of their own.
Many of these series are dubbed into Hindi and other languages on their platforms, so language need not be a barrier, though the original audio with subtitles is usually the better experience.
The thirteen below are in the order they premiered, not ranked, and range from detective stories and literary adaptations to family comedies.
