The spy thriller became one of Hindi cinema's biggest genres in the 2010s. Some of these stories are blockbuster fantasies of invincible agents, some are close retellings of real operations, and the best of them sit somewhere in between, with an analyst at a desk in Delhi as important as the agent in the field.
The fifteen titles below are in order of release, not ranked. Most are Hindi films, but the list includes the Tamil film Vishwaroopam, the Telugu film Goodachari and three series, The Family Man, Special Ops and Mukhbir, because some of the best Indian spy stories of recent years were made for streaming.
Every title here streams on at least one service in India at the time of writing. The platform chips under each title are live availability.
