About Barobabu

“The Father Of Indian Theatre”

Barobabu is a 2025 Bengali drama film directed by Reshmi Mitra. It runs 132 minutes. The cast is led by Sujan Mukherjee, Paayel Sarkar and Sudipta Chakraborty.

Barobabu is inspired by the life and work of Shishirkumar Bhaduri, the towering figure of Bengali theatre. Rather than a chronological biopic, the film delves into his emotional world — a complex weave of love, art, and personal turmoil. It explores his deep connections with two actresses, Prabha Debi and Kankabati, both significant in his professional and personal life.
